The Thought Machine (Sarah Rennix)

A magical Thought Machine lets us use our imagination to go anywhere…

In 2019 Sarah Rennix collaborated with dynamic singer-pianist ensemble Songspiel and hand shadowgrapher Drew Colby, to write and produce a fun, participatory event for young people aged 6-11. With music by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, poetry by Kate Wakeling from her award-winning collection Moon Juice, and hand-formed shadow backdrops, children used their imagination to explore a range of weird and wistful characters from anxious Viking warriors to the superhero Hamster Man.

The show toured primary schools across Peterborough and Cambridge as well as featuring in a range of festivals including Oxford Lieder, Sounds Sublime Festival and Cheltenham Festival.
